Mr. Nicholas Jones and his business partner Dr. Michael Obuchowski, founded Altanes Investments in September 2003. Mr. Jones was previously a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Ashland Management Incorporated, an investment advisory firm specializing in the management of large capitalization growth stocks.
Mr. Jones started his career in 1980 on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. In 1986, he joined Ashland Management and was responsible for the daily operations of their trading desk. In 1991, Mr. Jones began marketing the firm’s investment services to High Net Worth Individuals and Corporate Pension Plans. During his tenure at Ashland, Mr. Jones successfully raised a substantial amount of new assets and provided an outstanding level of service to the firm’s clients. After many years of being involved in Ashland’ s investment process, Mr. Jones became a formal member of their investment committee in 1996. As a portfolio manager, he was responsible for the investment management of the portfolio holdings and overseeing a select group of account relationships including several large corporate clients. Mr. Jones’ responsibilities further included presenting at “finals” presentations, performing investment review meetings and writing quarterly news commentaries. Mr. Jones was also a member of Ashland’s compliance committee.
Throughout Mr. Jones’ extensive asset management career, he has played a key role in the investment process and corporate strategy. Mr. Jones was the initial investor in Altanes' corporate structure and he has his personal assets invested in Altanes' investment strategy.
Mr. Jones has developed an ongoing relationship within the financial news industry in both Europe and the US. Over the years, he has appeared frequently on Bloomberg Radio, Bloomberg Television, Business News Network (BNN) and has been quoted on numerous occasions in newspapers, financial publications and on the wire services.
